Micromax Funbook Pro launched in India at Rs. 9,999

Micromax has launched the Funbook Pro, an Android tablet that is larger than the seven-inch Funbook and features a display measuring 10.1-inches. The Funbook Pro succeeds Micromax's first tablet, the Funbook, which was unveiled a few months ago. The Funbook came at an affordable price point and ran on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

Micromax's 10-inch tablet launched

Micromax, as a brand, is establishing their name in the Indian mobile industry. The company is not only launching budget devices but is adding various features to their products so that they can go toe-to-toe with products released by international manufacturers. The Funbook Pro is powered by a Cortex A8 processor. Designed mainly as a multimedia and gaming friendly tablet, the tablet runs at 3G speeds when paired with a 3G dongle. The screen featured on this tablet boasts a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels, which can be ideal for watching videos, reading e-books and playing games.

Deepak Mehrotra, CEO, Micromax Informatics Limited, said, “Today’s youth are tech savvy, but at the same time are restless; they want to buy and experience new innovations that make their life easier but in a matter of a few clicks. Inspired by the huge response for the seven-inch Funbook on Snapdeal, we are glad to continue this relationship with them for the new 10-inch Funbook Pro to provide a simpler way to the restless young heads for owning the device.”

The Funbook Pro has a VGA front-facing camera, 8 GB of built-in storage, a microSD card slot that supports cards up to 32 GB, and Wi-Fi. Like the original Funbook, this tablet comes preloaded with various apps such as YouTube, Text Editor, Adobe PDF, Flash and more.

We reviewed the seven-inch Micromax Funbook earlier and felt that since it comes with Android 4.0.3 without any skin running on top, a user gets the pure Ice Cream Sandwich experience. While the interface is quick to respond, there are times when it will slow down and get a bit sluggish. Hopefully, Micromax has worked on this aspect before unveiling the Funbook Pro.

For Rs. 6,499, the Funbook is certainly one of the cheaper Android 4.0 alternatives in the market. Micromax uses an app called “Super-HD Player” on the Funbook, which is nowhere to be found on the Play Store and does a great job of playing back video files and supports most file formats. Hopefully, all these great features are loaded on the Funbook Pro as well.

The Funbook Pro tablet is now available at Snapdeal.com for Rs. 9,999. On purchase, a user will get a one-year warranty from Micromax, and if they buy the Funbook Pro now, they can also get a Tata Docomo Photon+ Data card.
